LOCATION:
Thunder Bay Office with periodic travel to our Timmins and St. Mary’s offices throughout the year.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Thunder Bay Manager, Operations, the Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and completion of various projects across the organization. This role plays a key part in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational objectives.
The Project Coordinator provides support to project teams. We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to join our fast-paced, results-driven organization.
HOURS:
The successful candidate will work Monday – Friday (37.5 hours weekly) with a willingness to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the organization.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of projects across multiple sites
• Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure successful completion
• Identify potential risks and issues and support the development of mitigation strategies
• Support procurement, logistics, and resource coordination for project activities
• Track project progress and provide regular status updates to leadership
• Assist in the development and implementation of project management processes and best practices
• Participate in site visits as required to support project oversight and stakeholder engagement
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous experience in a Project Coordinator or administrative support role is an asset
• Knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive information
• Proficient technical skills in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with project management software is an asset
• Positive attitude with a proactive and results-oriented approach
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to staff safety
• A valid G Ontario Driver’s License with a clean abstract
Candidate Criteria
· Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
· Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
· Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
· Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
· Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed.
